A grill is a path, not a box. Gas comes in at a stub, has its pressure set, spreads along a manifold, waits at a valve, and burns at a brass tube under a tray of briquettes. Read it from the bottom up. Everything below the burner is pressure and plumbing; everything above it is heat and metal that wears out.

What is on the bench most often
Corrosion decides the order on this side of town. Salt settles on everything that carries air, and it reaches the igniter and the burner ports long before it reaches anything under the counter.
- Regulator, hose and manifold Where the gas arrives, has its pressure set, and is shared out along the burners.
- Grill igniter The knob opens a valve; whatever sits beside the burner has to light what comes out.
- Grill burner A brass tube on a brass orifice, with an air shutter behind it and ports along the top.
- Flavor generator plates and briquette trays The layer over the burner that turns a flame into even heat and vaporises what drips.
- Rotisserie motor and rear infrared burner A separate infrared burner across the back, and a motor on the left turning the skewer.
